Acquisition Process

Thank you for considering donating your cherished art and objects to the Cashmere Museum. The Museum strives to honor and care for your gift using current collections management standards. Due to space, funding, and in some cases provenance issues, however, not all objects can be accepted.

In order to facilitate the process, the Museum has appointed an Acquisition Committee to review each donation and make a determination on acquisition based on the following criteria:

  1. Does the object fit our mission?

  2. Does the Museum have space for the object, either in storage or on display?

  3. Does the Museum have the resources to properly take care of the object?

The Committee meets once a month, prior to each Board meeting, to review the objects. Should you wish to have the Museum consider a donation, please provide a clear photo (either via email or in person) to the Director of the Museum, who will prepare the appropriate paperwork, and present the object to the Acquisition Committee.

*Do NOT bring the object to the Museum, as limited space prevents the staff from accepting any object prior to accession. The donor will be notified of the Committee’s decision, in writing, no later than 30 days after the Committee meets.
